Tony Chohan of Sacramento, CA took the point in this weekend's Pechauer West Coast 9-Ball Tour, but was unable to successfully fend off Jason Williams of Concord, CA in the finals. A heated see-saw battle for the championship kept the spectators on the edge of their seats all the way to the dramatic hill-hill finale! The champion earned not only an $1100 payday, but 200 points, rocketing him into 8th place in the overall standings. Chohan will take home $800 and 150 points, while 3rd place finisher, John Bryant of Palmdale, CA ended up with $600 and 125 points. Paul Silva of Atwater, CA came in fourth for $450 and 100 points, while Steve Lingelbach and Billy Palmer tied for 5th place receiving $250 and 80 points for their efforts.
This tournament pushed Billy Palmer into the lead in the overall point standings after John Doherty of Seattle, WA was able to momentarily overtake him after the stop in Tacoma, WA at City Lights. There are now several contenders within reach of the tour lead and it will be interesting to see what happens at the next stop scheduled in three weeks (Mar 15-16) at the brand new Sunset Billiards in Renton, WA. 8-time World Champion Nick Varner is signed up to play in that event! Members who are interested in playing in that stop are encouraged to sign up early as the field is limited to the first 64 players.
