Twelve ladies returned on Sunday to face off and determine the winner of this weekend's Ladies Spirit Tour Stop. The original field of 32 players on day one was down to four undefeated players and eight players with one loss.
The big match in the first round saw tour points leader Tracie Hines face off against #2 Wendy Jans. This meeting went to Jans, who scored a 7-6 win. Jans went on to take the hot-seat with a 7-5 win over Debbie Schjodt.
Debbie Schjodt then met up with Hines on the one-loss side. Schjodt had played a great tournament, but no one was going to stop the Hines/Jans rematch in the finals. Hines took the match over Schjodt 7-2.
The final match was all that you would expect from #24 ranked WPBA Touring pro Hines and up-and-coming star Jans. The score went back and forth with neither player willing to give an inch. Just as the first meeting did, the rematch went to hill-hill before a winner was crowned. In the final match, Hines missed a shot on the 2-ball and left Jans a very runnable table. Jans surprisingly missed the 2-ball right back but left Hines hooked. Hines kicked and contacted the 2-ball, but left Jans another makeable shot and that was all the opportunity Jans needed. She ran out the rack for the 7-6 win.
Jans pocketed $700 to go along with the WPBA Midwest Classic qualifier, while Hines took home $500. Schjodt and Jennifer Nelson filled out the top four spots.
The Ladies Spirit Tour will be at Anastasia Billiard Room in St. Augustine, FL for their next event on September 24th - 25th.
