The Wynkoop Brewing Company located in Denver, CO hosted the 3rd annual “2008 Colorado Junior State Championships” this last Saturday, September 27th. Kids ages 8-19 travelled from all over the surrounding states to participate in this prestigious event.
It was James Fontin from Denver, 19, who went undefeated winning five straight matches to become the 2008 Colorado State Champion. The last two years James finished 2nd & 3rd place but with his dedication and determination he challenged himself and won this year's title with style winning 10-1 in the finals.
James won a $500 build-your-own pool cue donated by Jacoby Custom Cues, a custom Delta-13 rack, a trophy, and a “free entry” into the Dragon Promotions World Junior 10-ball Championships for 2009.
Malek Haj-Hussein from Colorado Springs, 16, was runner-up and won a trophy and a Delta-13 Custom rack, and third place was Brandon Baker, 16, from Wyoming who also won a trophy and a Delta-13 custom rack. All participants won a “free” subscription to Pool and Billiard Magazine thanks to Executive Editor Shari Stauch.
Chris Chylla won the $450 Ernie Martinez Custom Cue for being the “highest finishing 14-under” player to participate.

Each year The Wynkoop's house pro and WPBA touring professional Melissa Little conducts clinics, tournaments, and leagues for adults and kids. The next Juniors league starts Sunday, October 12th at The Wynkoop Brewing Company located at 1634 18th Street, Denver, CO. 12:00 PM start time, 10-week session, $7 per week, end of the session “pizza party” sponsored by sister store The Wazee Supper Club, and the Wynkoop matches ½ the pot for school supplies through gift cards.
