Skinny Bob's Billiards in Round Rock, Texas was the venue of choice for the final event of the Southwest 10 Ball Tour as it prepares to make the transition into the new “All Star Tournament Series.” The event was sponsored by Lucasi Hybrid, Aramith, Prather Cues, Billiard Warehouse, League Shirts.com and was promoted by Chris Wilmeth and Dreamline Promotions.
With a turnout including such big names as James “Bastrop” Davis Sr., David “LD” Henson, Charlie “Hillbilly” Bryant, Doug Young and attracting competitors from as far away as Arizona, the event was a showcase for several nail-biting matches.
Day one of the event saw the elimination of all four of the women who entered the event with Gail Eaton making it one round further than Heather Bryant, Kim Nguyen and Nancy French awarding her “highest finishing woman” and a cash prize of $60. At the end of the day, it was David Henson, John Palmore, James Davis Sr. and Cesar Garcia as the winner side matches making it to day two. The one loss side finished with Doug Young and Arizona native Allen Hall returning the next morning.
Sunday started off with David Henson defeating John Palmore 9-7 and James Davis besting Cesar Garcia 9-3. The hot-seat match between David Henson and James Davis was 9-6 in the favour of Mr. Davis. One loss side matches had Doug Young defeating John Palmore and Allen Hall over Cesar Garcia. After winning his next match 9-3, Doug moved on to meet David Henson who took the 9-5 victory, sending him to the finals to meet James Davis once again. In an exciting match, James Davis Sr. came out on top with the final score being 9-7, making him tournament champion for the second weekend in a row at events hosted by Skinny Bob's Billiards. Congratulations to James for his victory!
