Jamaica Joe's, OB Cues, and Str8 Shots are teaming together to make a difference in the life of 4 year old Jaxon Saenz who is fighting for his life. The Saenz family welcomed their daughter Shylee prematurely earlier this year. While on a check-up with her pediatrician, Jaxon’s mother mentioned that he had fallen the week before. The family’s doctor looked Jaxon over and noticed his eyes were yellow. After undergoing blood work and an ultrasound, the family was shocked to learn that their sweet boy was suffering from cirrhosis of the liver. Doctors say a liver transplant is critical to his survival.
This has been a difficult time for Jaxon’s family both emotionally and financially, as they’re still facing numerous bills related to Shylee’s early birth. Jaxon’s mother was forced to stop working to focus on his medical care full-time, but the family is strong and thankful for the support of so many loved ones.
Jaxon has now been added to the national transplant list. The average liver transplant costs approximately $575,000. And that’s just the beginning. Even with health insurance, which will cover the cost of the transplant itself, he still faces significant medical expenses related to the surgery. He will need a lifetime of follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. These medications are very costly, and they’re as important to his survival as the transplant itself.
Jamaica Joe's is hosting the 7th Annual Oklahoma Bar table 9-Ball Championship from November 8th -10th. Players who come in for the event get to play in a $5,000.00 added guaranteed tournament sponsored by Jamaica Joe’s and OB Cues. There is a $50.00 entry fee and 100% payback. There will be a Calcutta that will surely involve a sizeable purse. But that is not all!
Team Str8 Shots own Nick Varner and Karen Corr are flying in for the event. These two Hall of Famers, alongside Jamaica Joe's own Chip Compton and Joey Gray, will do challenge matches throughout the weekend as well as an exhibition in an effort to raise funds. All the proceeds from the raffles, t-shirt sales, as well as the challenge matches will go to help Jaxon's family.
