The Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour will be making their way into Break Time Billiards located at 127 S. College Road, Suite 12 in Wilmington, North Carolina this weekend (July 12th-13th). The weekend will consist of a $1000 guaranteed added main event, Friday night early bird event, second chance tournament on Sunday, followed by a satellite qualifier on Monday for the Allen Hopkins Million Dollar 9-Ball Shootout.
The main event winner qualifies for the 2008 Carolina Open set for October 7th-12th at Fast Eddie's in Goldsboro, NC. Two of the tour regulars have already won spots into the 2008 Carolina Open in both the one-pocket and nine ball divisions (Michael Fuller and B.J. Ussery), so this weekend, it is possible that a third place finisher will snag a spot of their own.
The main event will begin at 1 pm Saturday (registration deadline of 12:30 pm) with an entry fee of $65 plus $10 tour fee if you are not already a current tour cardholder. To get everyone in stroke, Friday night at 7 pm, the usual early bird tournament will start with a $25 entry, double elimination, races to five. Then on Sunday at 2 pm, the second chance tournament will get underway with a $25 entry, single elimination, races to five.
An added bonus this weekend or I should say following the weekend's festivities on Monday, the tour and Break Time will offer an opportunity to qualify for Allen Hopkin's Million Dollar 9-Ball Shootout which is set for August 6th-10th at the Valley Forge Convention Center in Pennsylvania. Throughout the weekend prior to the satellite qualifier, the tour will play as many “qualifying mini tournament(s)”, separate from their usual events, to assist players with the $350 entry on Monday. In these qualifying mini tournament(s), the first 16 players to pay the $25 entry fee will play a single elimination, races to five showdown for a paid spot into the Monday satellite qualifier. The Monday satellite qualifier will begin at 12 pm and is single elimination with races to nine. The winner's $5000 entry (plus $200 registration fees) will be paid for the shootout.
Last but not least, congratulations to several of the Jacoby Tour junior player regulars that will miss this weekend's event. They are traveling to Tucson, Arizona for the 2008 Junior Nationals – the tour would like to wish the following players luck in Arizona: D. J. Outlaw, Andrew Coley, Trey Sprye, Mac Harrell, Patrick Leonard, Tiffany Leonard, Chris Bruner, Jackson Jeffreys, Dillon Whaley, and Adam Davis. For those ladies and juniors that will be in the area, you do not pay for tour cards this year so $65 gets you into the main event, stop in and play a little.
Tour Director Doug Ennis will have a limited edition Jacoby cue valued at $750 that will be raffled during the weekend and he will have OB-1 shaft demos to try out on your cues. If purchased at the tournament, the OB-1 shaft special price is $180, which is up to $50 off of retail.
