Mika Immonen has booked his spot in the finals of the 2009 World 10-Ball Championship with a 9-7 win over Filipino Antonio Lining.
Although Immonen made some uncharacteristic errors early on, he held an early 4-1 lead. Lining came back to tie the score at 4-4, but he didn't make it look easy as he played some risky shape by bumping in balls multiple times.
The players traded racks in the middle stages of the match, until the score was tied 7-7.
The final two racks both featured kicking errors by Lining that would end up costing him the racks. A poor kick in rack fifteen by Lining left Immonen a wide open 1-ball, which led to an Immonen table run.
Things got worse for Lining in rack sixteen when he completely missed an early kick and left Immonen ball in hand at an open table. That would be Lining's final mistake as Immonen ran out the rack for the 9-7 win.
Immonen can now rest and await his opponent in the finals; the winner of the upcoming David Alcaide/Lee Van Corteza match.
