Marc Vidal has been on a hot-streak of late, but even he didn't have what it took to hold off reigning US Open Champion Mika Immonen in the finals of the Joss NE 9-Ball event at Comet Billiards in Parsippany, NJ this weekend.
Immonen fell to the one loss side on Saturday after a 9-8 loss to Vidal and after that win, Vidal cruised to the finals beating Tom McGonagle 9-4 in the match for the hot-seat.
Immonen then one upped Vidal and scored a 9-3 win over McGonagle to force a rematch with Vidal in the finals.
Immonen would have to beat Vidal twice in the finals in order to earn the tournament win, but after back to back 9-3 matches it was Immonen pocketing the $1400 in first place prize money. Vidal settled for second place and $980 in prize money.
Notables who did not make the money in this event included Tony Robles and tour director Mike Zuglan.
The Joss NE 9-Ball tour will be at Diamond Eight Billiards in Latham, NY (just outside of Albany) next week for a $2000 added event.
Zuglan also mentioned the upcoming Turning Stone Classic XII is now full and he is taking names for an alternate list now. Interested players should contact Zuglan at 518-356-7163.
