9-ball competition continued

Friday, 05 August 2011: Today, five rounds of 9-ball are played before the tournament continues with team matches. All remaining finals are scheduled for Saturday.
The host nation Luxembourg has one man left in the juniors division: Hugo Pereira. He defeated Jasper van Donker from The Netherlands with 8:7. In the final rack, van Donker played the 9-ball but left it hanging in the pocket. That was easy prey for Pereira who will play against Kenneth Ohr (AUT) in the next round in order to qualify for the last 16 players single elimination stage.

Moritz Lauwereyns (BEL) ousted Julian Kortüm (GER) from the event. Both players met on the feature table #24. It was Kortüm who looked like the sure winner leading 5:2 over Lauwereyns. But the Belgian player took a time out and then Kortüm somehow lost his game. He was struggling, continuously missing balls. Lauwereyns benefitted from that, winning the match with 8:6.

In the pupils division, Jesse Waltteri Huttunen (FIN) made his way through to the final 16 players by defeating Haydar Falah (DEN) with 7:5 in the first round, Jo Wetzel (LUX) 7:2 in the first winner's round and Daniel G.ttenberger (AUT) 7:2 in the winner's qualification round. He will wait there, together with David Maslov (RUS), Joshua Filler (GER) and Andrey Seroshtan (RUS) among others for the draw to be done after the loser's qualification round has been finished.
