Tour Stop #4 took place at Teachers Billiards in St. Peters, Missouri on January 14th! The field consisted of 59 players, 4 of which were females and 4 were juniors. The Tour is designed to give the average players a consistent, fun, monthly event to participate with all the amenities as one of the bigger tours. No A level players or higher are allowed to participate, we reward the top finishing junior and female. Tour Stop #4 proved that we are doing things well and monitoring the level of players participating in our events. There were 120 matches played, 40 of those matches went hill-hill. That's 1 out of every 3 matches came down to the last game, the hill!
This event was a Double Points event and many players returned to take advantage of that and try to work their way up the points ladder.
Prior to this event Cary Heaton had a comfortable lead in points. With 205 points and the second place points was Bill Harwell with 95. That was a comfortable lead! Sam Martin was able to battle his way thru the tough field and take 1st place, earning $935, the coveted Tour Plaque and 200 points. That victory put him just behind Cary with 205 points, while Cary sits with 210 points. Bill Harwell placed 3rd and moved up to 195 points.
Returning for the 4th consecutive Tour Stop, Curtis Fronchek came to play! Curtis played very well both mentally and physically on the tables. Curtis was defeated by Tim Smith, finishing in 13th place, just one out of the money. Even though Curtis just missed the money round, he finished well enough to earn the Top Junior award of $50.00
Julia Gabrial was able to find the time to attend her second Gateway Amateur 9-Ball Tour Stop. Julia faced some tough competition throughout the event and finished 17th, two rounds out of the money. Finishing 17th was good enough to earn her the Top Female award of $50.00
Next Tour Stop is February 18th, 2006 at Teachers Billiards in Fairview Heights, IL.
