The Planet Pool Tour was in action this weekend at Champions Billiards Cafe in Rockville Maryland with 74 players in the open division.
The hot-seat was taken by Jim 'Shorty' Henson who defeated Mark Ford 9-3. Ford then eliminated current points leader Ryan McCreesh 7-5 on the one-loss side to set up the rematch with Henson in the finals.
Ford put up more of a fight in the final match, but it was still Henson who scored the 9-7 win.
Henson pocketed $1200 for first place, while Ford settled for $800 in second place prize money. McCreesh and Keith McCready filled out the top four spots.
The women's division drew 30 players and saw Gwen Dickert go undefeated for the win. Dickert cruised to the hot-seat with a 7-2 win over Tina Meraglio from Ohio. Meraglio then defeated Amanda Page 5-4 to earn another shot at Dickert in the finals.
The final match was almost as one-sided as the first meeting between Dickert and Meraglio with Dickert scoring the 7-3 win.
Dickert earned $400 for first, while Meraglio took home $275 for second. Page and points leader Malea Haacke filled out the top four spots.
The Planet Pool Tour will be at Great Slates in Cambridge, MD on September 4th-5th for a $4000 added US Open Warm Up Event. The field in that event is limited to 64 players, so early sign up is suggested.
