A loaded field of 44 players made their way to the Diamond Billiard Club in Chattanooga, TN over the weekend for the Great Southern Tour's Choo Choo Classic III. Top seeds in this event included Nick Varner, Johnny Archer, Stevie Moore, Shannon Daulton, Bobby Pickle, Tony Watson, Larry Nevel, Jonathan Hennessee, Billy Young , Russ Edwards, Cliff Joyner, Bill Bailey and Derek Leonard.
Bobby Pickle was playing exceptionally strong on the beautiful diamond bar tables all weekend including a 9-1 win over Larry "The Truth" Nevel. Unfortunately, Pickle fell to Cliff Joyner in the match before the hot-seat. This set up Joyner and Hennessee playing for the hot-seat, which Hennessee won 9-3. Meanwhile, Larry Nevel was scoring a hill-hill win over Shannon Daulton on the one loss side to send Daulton back to the tournament director's table in 4th place.
Nevel then went on to eliminate Joyner in his next match and set his sights on Hennessee in the finals.
With all of the great matches that took place all weekend long, the true double elimination finals turned out to be blow-outs as Nevel beat Hennessee 9-3 and 9-4 for the win.
The Great Southern Tour will be at Sporty's in Greenville, SC on June 2 - 3 for their next event.
