The Fast Eddie's Olhausen 9 Ball Tour sponsored by Ray Schuler Legacy Cues held its fifth event of the 2007 season at Fast Eddie's Billiards Champion's location in Houston last weekend and the ladies came to play.
The Tour would like to give a big “Howdy” to new members Michelle Wilcox and Melinda Hodges along with the top picks, Heather Lloyd, Kyu Yi, Courtney Peters, Terry Petrosino, Kim Pierce and Jillian Valles along with the rest of a very talented field.
Jumping into the fourth place position was Houston's own Jillian Valles. This young lady stormed onto the tournament trail about a year ago and has been making quite a name for herself. She started her run with victories over Michelle Abernathy and Rebecca Goodnight before being sent to the left side by another Houstonite, Courtney Peters. She, then, was victorious over Michelle Abernathy again to reach the first round in the money where Jennifer Kraber sent her to the stands. Jillian made $100 for her efforts. Good shooting!
Jennifer Kraber of Austin, long time member of the Tour, is always a threat with her fast and loose style of play. Jennifer won her first two matches over Michelle Wilcox and Tasha Salandanan before being sent to the brutal bracket by Heather Lloyd. From there, she took out Kyu Yi, the Tour's lady point's leader, and Jillian Valles, only to be stopped by Courtney Peters for a great third place finish. Jennifer received $180 for her finish.
Courtney Peters of Houston plays hard and scraps for every ball, game and match. She placed second at this event last year and was on a mission to win the event. Courtney had triumphs over Carrie Shannon, Kyu Yi, and Jillian Valles to grab a spot in the finals of the winner's bracket.
Coming up the other side of the bracket was Heather Lloyd of Austin, a multiple Tour event winner. Heather's competitive nature and laid back style of play is always complimented by her ever present smile. Heather reached the hot seat match with victories over Rebecca Redumis, Terry Petrosino, and Jennifer Kraber.
The winner's bracket finals went to Heather by a score of 7-4. Courtney went on and defeated Jennifer in the finals of the one loss side to set up a final match with Heather.
Déjà vu, again, in the final match as Heather was victorious over Courtney by the same score of 7-4. Heather collected $480 and Courtney received $295. Congratulations to both ladies for putting on a show of fine play over the day!
