With one complete round of play in the books at the World Ten Ball Championship, Great Britain and Japan have a lot to be proud of. All four players from Great Britain won their first round matches and Daryl Peach has already advanced to the round of sixty four.
Three of the four Japanese players won their first round matches with only Hayato Hijikata's 9-8 loss to Ying-Chieh Chen marring their perfect record.
Other countries performing well in the first round were Germany with five of their seven players winning, Taipei with ten of their fifteen players winning and Korea with all three of their players advancing.
The Philippine contingent only saw seven of their thirteen players win first round matches and the USA had four of their eleven players win matches in the first round.
Of course, a win in the first round is not a guarantee of an advance into the round of sixty four and all of the players will have to bring their "A" games to the table today and Wednesday to earn their spots in the single elimination stage.
