The 25th Anniversary Derby City Classic is down to just one last day of action at the Caesers Horseshoe Casino in Elizabeth, Indiana.
Late on day eight, Fedor Gorst emerged from the last three players in the One Pocket Division to earn his second Derby City Classic One Pocket Title.
The day started with three players remaining, from the 402 player field. Shane Van Boening, Fedor Gorst and Joshua Filler (fresh off his wins in the Bigfoot 10-Ball Challenge and Banks Division) all had rebuys, which meant a long day of one pocket for these three players.
The option was given to the players to eliminate their buybacks and just play two matches to determine a winner, but the players voted that idea down.
Gorst got the first bye of the day, with Van Boening beating Joshua Filler, Filler then got the bye, and Gorst defeated Van Boening. Van Boening then got the bye, and Gorst eliminated Filler, leaving just Van Boening and Gorst in the event, with Gorst owning the only buyback.
It was a more aggressive Van Boening that got the finals underway, as he knew he would have to beat Gorst twice. Van Boening raced out to a 2-0 lead and won the set 3-1, to send Gorst to the buyback desk.
The short trip to the rebuy desk brought a refreshed Fedor Gorst back to the feature table, where he won the final set 3-0 for the tournament win.
Even later on day eight, Michael Delawder broke through to earn his first Derby City Classic Banks Ring Game title. Delawder made his way through Skyler Woodward, Max Adams, Shane Wolford, Robert Frost and Billy Thorpe to earn the title and $5000 in prize money.
Day nine is underway today, with roughly 80 players left in the 9-ball division and a dead heat between Filler, Van Boening and Gorst for the Master of the Table award.
Pat Fleming and Accu-Stats Video Productions are covering this event with video PPV. The one day pass is $14.95 and matches will be shown until a final winner is crowned. More information on this PPV is available at https://onsitepool.com/accustats/
