The 2005 Glass City Open will be held November 9 - 13th at the Clarion Hotel-Westgate in Toledo, Ohio. Tom Gearhart and Tom Elder, promoters of the Glass City Open, have extended an unprecedented offer to BCA Pool League members worldwide. For the first time ever, BCAPL members will be allowed to form a team from any BCA Pool League regardless of geographical location. All that is required is that you must be a current BCAPL member and have a BCAPL membership card.
Mark Griffin, owner of the BCAPL, stated, "The BCAPL is player driven and we listen to their suggestions. When Tom Gearhart asked if he could promote an amateur BCAPL 8-ball event with relaxed eligibility requirements, following our members suggestions, we had to say yes". He added, "it's hard to pass up an opportunity to offer our players this unique format and have it promoted at such a classic event. We wish both Tom's and their staff great success and hope that all our BCAPL family takes advantage of this opportunity to play at the Glass City Open".
For this event only, BCAPL team members may consist of any five players formed from any number of BCA Pool Leagues. For $169 per player, each team gets two hotel rooms, a $110 pass to see the pros play in the 2005 Glass City Open, an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet Saturday morning, entry into the tournament and a $10 raffle ticket on a cue that will be signed by the winner of the 2005 Glass City Open. It is a triple-elimination tournament meaning that each team has to lose three times before it's out.
Glass City Open promoter, Tom Gearhart says, "While the worlds best players are carving out their share of the $45,000 purse in the hotels Grand Ballroom, 48 BCA Pool League teams will be playing in a triple-elimination tournament where the top team will win at least $5,000! Teams shouldn't wait to get in as it will fill fast."
