Randy Fawcett and George Cornelius |
With many of our top players playing in the states this weekend our field consisted of 28 lower handicaps players who ventured out to Barrie to play in the 36th stop of the Canadian 30K Tour. Our top players today all hold a 7 handicap or less.
Top 6 players will cash in this one day event.
On the top bracket of the A side George Cornelius (7) rolled through Brian Bedford (7), Marvin Catindig (5) Dave McMahon (6+) and defeated Kory Jacobs (5) 7-1 to get a chance to play for the “hot seat”.
Bottom bracket has Jeff Robson (5+) cruising through the bottom of the A side getting a bye first, then defeating Jarret White (4), Tony Butera (5) and then taking out Glen Lee (5+) 5-3. The battle for the hot seat was a decisive one as Cornelius (7) defeated the youngster Jeff Robson 8-3 sending him to the one-loss side to grind it out.
On the one-loss side Randy Fawcett (6+) defeated Glen Lee (5+) 6-3. Wayne Tate 6+ vs. Kory Jacobs 5 (match is 7-5) and Wayne prevails to go one more round. Glen Lee and Kory Jacobs finished 5/6th
Now is Randy Fawcett 6+ vs. Wayne Tate 6+ on a race to 6 and it goes double hill with Randy prevailing over Wayne. Wayne takes 4th
It is Randy Fawcett (6+) who advanced to play against Jeff Robson (5) and takes the match by a 6-0 score (he's hot). Jeff takes 3rd. Randy Fawcett was not to be denied today as he opened up with both barrels, hitting his mark square on the chest. Jeff Robson could do nothing as he saw game after game being won by Randy and at the end the score was 6-0 on a 6-5 race.
1st and 2nd place was to be decided between George Cornelius (7) and Randy Fawcett (6+) with the race being 8-7. It was a close match at first with both players scoring wins back and forth but Cornelius kicked it into high gear and made quick work of Fawcett defeating him 8-4. Randy Fawcett finished 2nd.
George Cornelius goes undefeated to take the 36th stop of the Canadian 30K Tour at Dunlop Billiards in Barrie.
