Reigning World Champion Ga-Young Kim went undefeated and held off a charging Jeannie Seaver to win the Ladies Spirit Tour at Capone's Billiard Lounge in Spring Hill Florida.
Kim, currently ranked #8 on the WPBA Tour, dominated the field on her way to the hot-seat, which she took with a 7-2 win over #12 ranked Sarah Ellerby. When Ellerby got to the one-loss side, she had her hands full with 'The Comeback Kid' Jeannie Seaver. Seaver had lost her first match of the tournament on Saturday, but lived up to her nickname again and tore through the one-loss side to get to Ellerby. The match between Ellerby and Seaver came down to the wire with Seaver scoring the 7-6 win to earn her spot in the finals.
Kim came out 'on fire' in the finals and cruised to a 4-0 lead. It looked like Seaver might not even get on the board, but she had other plans as she won four of the next five games to get back within one game at 5-4 down. Seaver's run must have gotten Kim's attention as Ga-Young went on to win two of the next three games for the 7-5 victory.
Kim earned $725 for first place, while Seaver took home $525 for second. Ellerby and Helene Caukin filled out the top four spots. Caukin earned the WPBA qualifier as the top finishing player without a spot already guaranteed in the WPBA event.
The Ladies Spirit Tour will be at Kiss Shot Bar & Billiards in Coral Springs, FL on March 19th and 20th for their next event.
