Dave Ross went undefeated through a 55-player field at the Fury Central Florida Amateur tour event held at the new Orlando Billiard Center on June 12, 2005.
Ross ran to the hot seat with several 7-1 score lines plus a hill-hill win over Tim Daniel. On the bottom of the bracket was local player Anthony Cruz rolling through the field with a 7-2 win over Josh Degler to top off his run and get into the hot seat match. It was all Ross in the hot seat and his steady shooting earned him a 7-2 win over Cruz for a spot in the finals.
On the B-side Nomar Paula and Tim Daniel were meeting up to see would advance to the semifinals. Daniel had put Paula on the B-side earlier in the tournament 7-4 and Daniel?s loss to Ross matched him up with Paula. Daniel again took the lead in the rematch with Paula and won 5-2 to move into the semis. Daniel met Cruz in the semi and Cruz raced ahead to an insurmountable lead and then took the match 5-1, leaving Daniel in 3rd.
In the rematch finals between Cruz and Ross, Ross took a comfortable 6-3 lead. Cruz put in another game before Ross reached the hill at 8-4 but Ross ran out the last game to win 9-4 and take his first Fury win this season.
