It's not a long story. It is, as they say, a short story that's just been going on for a long time. The beleaguered Jacoby Custom Cue Carolina Tour once again drew an extremely short field for its stop on the weekend of February 19-20. Michael Fuller went undefeated to win the $1,000-added event, which drew five entrants to On The Snap Billiards in Fuquay-Varina, NC
Four of the five entrants, minus one Adam Stanton, were the winners' side final four. B.J. Ussery faced Sidney Champion, as Fuller took on Cary Dunn. Champion survived a double hill struggle against Ussery, as Fuller downed Dunn 8-4. Fuller got into the hot seat with an 8-5 win over Champion.
In an extremely truncated west bracket, Stanton faced Dunn, while Ussery drew a bye into the quarterfinals. Stanton handled Dunn 8-5 to join him. Ussery then defeated Stanton 8-5 to get into the semifinals against Champion, and defeated Champion by the same score.
In the race-to-11 finals, Ussery took an early 2-0 lead and after allowing Fuller a single game, got out in front by three at 4-1. Down by two at 5-3, Fuller went on a five-rack streak from which Ussery never recovered. Ussery did win the next two to draw within one at 8-7, but Fuller won three in a row to complete his undefeated weekend.
Adam Stanton's name was drawn for the Break and Run contest and took home $93 for sinking a single ball. Eric Fair won a $500 Jacoby Cue.
