The final stop on the 2005-2006 Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour saw Michael Fuller emerge as not only tournament champion, but Player of the Year as well. Host room New York Billiards of Raleigh, NC proved a worthy venue for the tour's finale..
In his first match of the day, Fuller found himself down 5-4 to Eric Ridge in a race to 7, coming out on top in a hill-hill decision. He was quickly sent to the one-loss side by Player of the Year runner-up B. J. Ussery (7-2). To earn the hot-seat, Ussery also defeated Joe Whaley (7-5), David Brown (7-1), and Jeff Pruitt (7-2). Meanwhile, Fuller worked his way to the championship match with wins over Brown (7-4), Whaley (7-3) and Pruitt (7-1).
In the final match, a single-elimination race to 9, the crowd at New York Billiards witnessed a great demonstration of skill and ability. Both Fuller and Ussery played like champions. Taking it to hill-hill, however, Ussery scratched on the break and never returned to the table. With ball-in-hand, Fuller pocketed the 1 and managed to break out the 3. The rest of the rack proved to be a mere formality.
Throughout this year's Jacoby tour, Fuller enjoyed consistent success. Out of the 12 tournaments in which he participated, Fuller won 7 times. As Player of the Year, Fuller earns entry into the 2006 U. S. Open 9-Ball Championships and will represent Jacoby Custom Cues and Rock City Promotions.
The 2006-2007 tour schedule is being finalized and will be announced very soon. As usual, New York Billiards will host the first event which will be on October 7th, 2006.
