Tour director John Ditoro has announced the formation of the Florida Men's Pro Tour, to include 5 $5000 added open 9-ball events and culminate the first season with a $10,000 Florida State Championship. The tour is made possible with sponsorship from the Seminole Tribe of Florida, Simonis Cloth and Diamond Billiards.
The first event will take place on July 5th-6th and Capone's in Springhill Florida, with subsequent events to take place at Planet 9-Ball in Tampa, Players Billiards in Melbourne, Pro Billiards in Orlando and Browns Billiards in Hollyhill. The location of the season finale has not been determined.
Florida already boasts the Ladies Spirit Tour, the Florida Amateuer 9-Ball Tour and many events on the J. Pechauer SE Open 9-Ball Tour. The Florida Men's Pro Tour will be the first 9-ball tour since 2001 to feature events for male players of all skill levels and only hold events in Florida.
The Florida Pro Open Tour, which ceased operations in 2001, was a favorite of the Florida players and frequently had appearances by such top players as Buddy Hall, Tommy Kennedy, Charlie Williams and David Grossman at their events.
