The First Annual Relay for Life 9-Ball Invitational Charity Benefit at Capones Billiards in Spring Hill Florida kicked off on Wednesday night with Challenge the Pro matches and opportunities for the fans to get their picture taken with their favorite pros. There was no shortage of pro players in attendance at this event with such notables as Corey Deuel, Rodney Morris, Nick Varner, Jeremy Jones, Ralf Souquet, Johnny Archer, Tommy Kennedy, Mika Immonen, Earl Strickland. In addition to the players in the tournament, WPBA touring pro Tracie Hines was in attendance on Wednesday night showing her support.
Over $1500 was raised on Wednesday night alone and event sponsors Robert and Leann Sapp from LTL Universe expect that to just be the top of the iceberg.
The actual pool tournament gets underway on Thursday at noon with twenty one players competing for the $20,000 in prize money. Notables matches in round one include Kim Davenport vs Ronnie Wiseman, Rodney Morris vs Nick Varner, Johnny Archer vs Robb Saez and Marcus Chamat vs John Schmidt.
