The WPBA website is reporting that Allison Fisher has defeated Karen Corr to defend her title at the Cuetec Cues Midwest Classic.
Fisher was undefeated in the event, including a 9-8 victory over Corr for the hot-seat. Corr went to the one-loss side and defeated a red-hot Kim Shaw who posted a career best third place finish.
This set up the rematch with Corr in the finals, under the ESPN TV lights. Corr took the early lead at 5-3, but Fisher fought back to tie the score at 5-5 and then go ahead at 6-5. Corr was not done though, as she won the next rack to tie the score at 6-6 with Corr breaking. The final game turned into a safety battle that Fisher would win, on her way to the 7-6 victory.
The win will allow Fisher to maintain her 185 point lead over Corr on the WPBA points list. Fisher collects $9,000 for the win, while Corr settles for $6,500 in second place money. Kim Shaw and Helena Thornfeldt filled out the top four spots.
