This past weekend King Street Billiards in Fayetteville, North Carolina and Comet Billiards in Parsippany, New Jersey hosted National Championship Series (NCS) 8-Ball qualifiers. Three additional players will be moving on to compete in the NCS 8-Ball Championship at the Golden Nugget February 13-15 in Las Vegas.
Jim Faircloth won the qualifier at King Street Billiards and Greg Antonakos and Redgie Cutler won the qualifier spots at Comet Billiards. Faircloth is a regular on the Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour and Antonakos and Cutler both play on the Joss North East Tour and the Predator 9-Ball Tour.
The NCS 8-Ball Championship is open to men, women, amateur and professional players and with a max field of 64 players will have a prize fund of $32,000 and the winner will win a spot to represent the United States at the WPA World 8-Ball Championship which is scheduled April 5-11 in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates.
Seven NCS qualifiers are scheduled for this coming weekend, January 10-11 in the following locations: The Rack in Livonia, MI; Casper Billiards in San Leon, TX; The Pool Room in Duluth, GA; Hawaiian Brian's in Honolulu, HI (This event is also the Aloha State 8-Ball Championship); Pool Sharks in Las Vegas, NV; Champions Billiard Sports Café in Arlington, VA; and Butera's in Moorpark, CA.
