As day one of the Enjoypoolcom Open 9-Ball Championships comes to a close, the story of the day on the men's side was Matt Krah's 11-10 win over former champion Thorsten Hohmann. Krah held a lead for almost the entire match only to see Hohmann come back to tie the score at 10-10 before Krah was able to finish the match off. Other first round upsets on the men's side included Larry Nevel's 11-6 win over Johnny Archer and Darren Appleton's 11-10 win over Stevie Moore.
On the ladies side, the biggest upset was 'The Mad Hatter' Susan Mello's 9-6 win over Akimi Kajitani. Other surprising results included Leslie Anne Rogers' 9-8 win over Ewa Laurance and Jennifer Chen's 9-2 win over Kim Shaw.
Defending champions Ralf Souquet and Jasmin Ouschan both advanced in dominating fashion. Souquet defeated Max Eberle 11-4 and Ouschan beat Vicki Paski 9-0.
