The WPA released their latest men ranking, updated after last week's Ultimate 10-Ball event in Tunica.
With his third-place finish, Darren Appleton claims the number one spot, climbing two steps since the recent China Open. Mika Immonen makes the biggest leap forward thanks to his win: from 18th place he climbed to the 6th spot.
For "Dynamite" Appleton, it's the return to the top. He was the #1 player in the World in 2011 and beginning of 2012.
The next WPA points events is the World 9-Ball Championship 2013 where Appleton will have to defend his title and the 1,000 ranking points that goes with it. He has a confortable margin of more than 500 over his closest rivals Dennis Orcollo and Lee Vann Corteza, but they both will have less points to defend: 390 for Orcollo, 285 for Corteza. In september, the fight for the World 9-Ball crown could very well be also a fight for the #1 World ranking spot!
