Joey Dupuis, who's been consistenly among the top 10 finishers on the stops of four different New-England based tours this year, chalked up his second victory on one of them - the J. Pechauer Ride the 9 Tour - when he went undefeated at a November 11 event that drew 46 entrants to Snookers, in Providence, RI. Dupuis started the year with a victory on the Ride the 9 tour (Jan. 15), and won a stop on the Rack 'Em Up Tour in April. In between, he managed finishes among the top 10 on the Joss Northeast and New England 9-Ball tours, including four second place finishes.
He advanced through the November 11 field of 46 to move into one of the winners' side semifinals, where he squared off against Ed Powers. Paul Torri, in the meantime, met up with Stacie Bourbeau in the other semifinal. Dupuis defeated Powers 9-3, while Torri was busy surviving a double hill match against Bourbeau. Dupuis gave up only a single rack to Torri in the hot seat match, and sat in it, awaiting his return.
Powers moved over to pick up Bill Roberge, who'd defeated Justin Rey 4-2, and Ran Tamba, double hill. Bourbeau drew Choneyi Tenzin, a man on a nine-game, loss-side mission that would take him to the semifinals. It had begun when Bourbeau sent him to the loss side in the opening round of play, and was continuing after he'd defeated Quoc Dinh 6-3, and Mike Demarco 6-2. Powers moved into the quarterfinals with a 4-2 victory over Roberge, as the Bourbeau/Tenzin re-match moved into double hill territory.
Tenzin won it, and then, took the quarterfinal match against Powers 7-2 (Powers racing to 4). In the semifinals, Torri stopped Tenzin's run 5-3 (Tenzin racing to 6) for a second chance against Dupuis. Dupuis took the opening set of the potential double elimination final 7-2 to complete his undefeated day, and second win on the Ride the 9 Tour.
Tour Director Gloria Magnano thanked the ownership and staff of Snookers, in Providence, RI for their hospitality. The next stop on the J. Pechauer Ride the 9 Tour is scheduled for December 16 at Bo's Bar & Billiards in Warwick, RI. According to Magnano, the event will add at least $250 from the tour for a Merry Christmas.
