UPA President Charlie Williams won his second major event in the last fourteen days with a 13-8 victory over Ronnie Wiseman in the finals of the 2003 Capital City Classic.
Williams lost to Wiseman on the winners side earlier in the tournament, but won nine straight matches on the B-Side to set up the rematch with Wiseman in the extended, race to 13, final.
Williams came out firing, as he quickly raced to a 6-1 lead. He kept the pressure on and both players took a break at 10-4. Wiseman composed himself during the break and came out strong to win the next four games and trim Williams' lead to 10-8. From there, Williams won the final three racks for the 13-8 victory.
Williams collected $8,500 for first, while Wiseman settled for $4,700 in second place prize money. Corey Deuel and Luc Salvas filled out the top four spots and collected $3,200 and $2,400 respectively. Combined with Williams first place prize money at the Big Apple 9-Ball Challenge and his second place prize money at the Las Vegas 9-Ball Open, Williams has won over $25,000 during the month of August.
