DR Pool Promotions, Inc of Watertown, WI has announced two large upcoming tournaments in January. First is the Soaring Eagle Open (www.soaringegleopen.com) to be held Jan 6-9, 2011 at the Soaring Eagle Resort and Casino in Mount Pleasant, MI. This tournament will feature 2 divisions of 9-ball, and 3 divisions of men's 8-ball with one women's 8 ball division. Some of the divisions are handicapped or combined with a successful formula used for the last three years. There is money added to each division with $4000 added to the 8-ball upper division of the men's with a guaranteed $2500 first place. The flyer/entry form and tourney handout as well as hotel information is available on the website. BCAPL rules will be used for this event. The tournament will be played on valley tables set at .75 using red circle cue balls.
The following weekend, Jan 13-16 marks the fourth anniversary of the Olympia Open held at the Olympia Resort and Spa in Oconomowoc, WI. This popular tournament uses the same type format as the Soaring Eagle Open and is like the Soaring Eagle Open, open to all skill levels. Room rates for this event have been reduced to $79 a night. Past 8-ball champions of the event are Jesse Bowman (2) and Gil Hernandez. Olympia open has gone to green fees this year. Flyer/ entry forms can be found on www.drpool.net Valley tables will be used with red circle cue balls. For those interested, Olympia Open IV at the Olympia Resort and Spa has a ski hill on grounds, steakhouse, Indigo night club and large indoor pool with spa and large exercise rooms.
These tournaments are pre-Derby City and will provide plenty of action for those choosing to attend.
