Fast Eddies Olhausen 9Ball Tour held its second event of the year February 2-3 at the NW Military location in San Antonio Texas.
The field included 76 players from the region and afar.
Top picks for the tournament included, Jui Lung Chen, Jeremy Jones, Sylver Ochoa, David Guittierrez, and Steve Rector.
Finishing in the 13-16 spots were Gordon Van der Veer, Danny Almaraz, Mathew Cummings, and Manual Ayala. Each took home $130.00 for their efforts.
Finishing 9-12 were, Jason Alvarez, Marc Garza, Bill Fuller, and Jui Lung Chen. They earned 170.00 hard earned dollars.
In the 7-8 positions were Eric Acinena and Sylver Ochoa. Both these youngsters played well and gathered $400 for the weekend.
The 5-6 spots were worth $560 and claimed by Robert Stewart and Robert Clark. These two are tough at any event.
The 4th place finish was claimed by Mickey Woinicki who played quite solidly all weekend long. We will be hearing more about this youngster. Mickey put $870 in his pocket and seemed quite happy.
Finishing 3rd was David Guitierrez living in the Dallas area. In his past 5 Fast Eddies events David has won 3 and finished 3rd twice. He is the only player in the Tour's 5 year history to have won 3 consecutive tournaments as well. He suffered two hill-hill losses to keep him from the finals this weekend. Still, 3rd place isn't abad and David took home $1300 for his fine play.
The finals were between Steve Rector of Wichita Ks. and Jeremy Jones of Houston TX. Steve was coming from the one loss side having survived 5 hill-hill matches and looking quite determined and Jeremy having won the hot seat.
Steve jumped to a 6-1 lead and seemed in control when JJ put the clamps on him. Steve ended up on two fouls 5 different times with some great safety play from the former US Open champ and some great run outs. Jeremy got .his break working and fell into stroke making things look far too easy. Jeremy went on to win 7 straight games and the match by a score of 9-7. Steve played well, but ran into a brick wall.
Steve took home $1860 for a fine 2nd place finish and Jeremy took home $2885 for his fine win. Congratulations to both.
A special thanks to Jack Kompan of Mystick Cues, Robbie of Behind the 8 Ball, and Justin and Eric of Hustlin Clothing for their attendance and support.
