The Rocky Mount Classic took place the weekend of October 11-13, 2007, at Dot's Cue Club in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The US Open 9-Ball Qualifier took off without a hitch and although the field was lighter than anticipated, the competition was quite strong.
At the end of the event, although Phillip Richardson was able to take the winner's side bracket by storm, he ended up splitting the finals set win with the one-loss side winner Steven Page. This event was a true double elimination final - the first set was played out with a 9-6 victory by Page. Since it was known prior that Page was unable to attend the event in Chesapeake, Virginia this weekend, Richardson split the pot with him and took the spot into one of the biggest events of the year – the US Open.
