A week of lousy weather departed Richmond just in time for the
Richmond Billiard Tour to pay a return visit to the Playing Field where
David Donovan topped the crowd and gave himself a win. Donovan had a
tough guy to get past for this win. Sean Millican had won the last
Richmond Billiard Tour event and had his hopes pinned on making it two
in a row. He fell short against Donovan in the semi-finals (5-2) but
then fought his way through the one-loss side to get another shot at
Donovan in the finals. In the final match both men played well with
great shotmaking and excellent cue ball control. Donovan took an early
2-0 lead but Millican wound up closing the gap to only one rack at 4-3.
From there it went back and forth but Donovan caught most of the
scoring beads and closed the match out at 7-4.
It must be said that both Gary Herrington and Carey
Mcnamara also played very well in this event. They both had a lot of
close matches and hung in there and Herrington took 3rd place while
McNamara settled for fourth. The tournament staff wishes to thank the
players for their great sportsmanship and fine play and the folks at
the Playing Field for their generous hosting of the event.
