Playing host to the 10th stop on the Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour on April 14th was Fast Eddie's in Goldsboro, NC. Home of the Carolina's Open, Fast Eddie's is a popular destination for pool players from around the world.
On this occasion, however, it was a regular from nearby Greenville that stole the show. Delton Howard, just back from a break from competitive play, survived several close matches before a lopsided final match against Greg Smith.
Howard began with a 7-3 win over Mike Frowein, then edged out Vernon Rogers and Mac Harrell in a couple of 7-6 hill-hill matches. Howard took the hotseat by defeating Smith 7-5.
Rogers and Harrell handed tour points leader B. J. Ussery two losses of 7-6 and 7-5, respectively.
Smith enjoyed wins over Sidney Champion (7-5) and John Haefka (7-3) before being sent to the one-loss side by Howard (7-5). He defeated Champion again (7-6), but in his rematch with Howard in the final match, Smith seemed to run out of gas. Howard was still in stroke, though, and took the win (9-1).
The next stop on the Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour will be May 5th at Dot's Cue Club in Rocky Mount, NC.
