Friday play is complete at the 2004 Glass City Open and the field is now sixteen players competing for the $8000 first prize.
On the winners side, Earl Strickland will face Charlie Bryant and Danny 'Kid Delicious' Basavich will face Corey Deuel on Saturday evening. Basavich was involved in the final match on Friday night and had to win four straight games to beat Jeremy Jones 10-9. Strickland handed local here Steve McAninch a 10-4 loss after McAninch had beaten Rodney Morris 10-8.
After the loss to McAninch, Morris then suffered another 10-8 loss to Jeff Carter and was eliminated from the event. Another elimination on Friday was Chuck Altomare who defeated reigning US Open Champion Gabe Owen 10-8, but then lost to Shawn Putnam 10-0. Putnam will face Johnny Archer Saturday morning with the winner facing Keith McCready in the next round.
Still playing on the one-loss side is local player Bob Brown who lost to Corey Deuel 10-3 on the winners side. Brown will face the winner of the match between Jeff Carter and Troy Frank.
Chris Orme had insult added to injury as he discovered that his room had been robbed last night and all of his cash was gone. Things got worse from there when he opened his case for a Friday match with Josh Brothers only to find the butt of his cue broken in four pieces. Orme tried to play with a borrowed cue, but forfeited the match when trailing 5-0 to Brothers.
Online brackets are complete with all Friday matches and we have now added a second photo gallery from Diana Hoppe. Check out galleries one and two for over 200 pictures from Toledo.
