Too many mistakes prevent the final for Bermanec

Friday, 03 August 2012
: The 9-ball semi-final matches at this year's Dynamic Billiards European Youth Championships have been played.

One tough encounter could be viewed in the junior's division, where Jose Alberto Delgado Hernandez (ESP) eliminated Filip Bermanec (CRO) from the tournament chart with 8:6. The match was probably decided in the first four racks. Instead of having a 2:1 lead for Bermanec, Delgado lead 3:0. All happened because Bermanec made too many simple mistakes in the early stage of the match. Later on, that proved to cost him the match. But before that, things really were exciting. Delgado took a comfortable 6:2 lead over Bermanec who seemed to struggle with his opening performance. But then Bermanec started to play more safety shots and suddenly it seemed as if Delgado became a bit nervous. Bermanec started to close the gap between the two and the tension got higher in the match. “I really started to get nervous when he came closer rack after rack”, said Delgado. But there was no way that the young Spaniard would give in to Bermanec. In the 11th rack, the score was 6:4 to Delgado. Again, the rack was determined by safety play. But this time, Delgado played the better shots and won the rack to take him to the hill, leading 7:4. Bermanec was able to strike back twice. He won two more racks to 7:6, before Delgado closed the book on the match by winning the 14th rack and taking the match with 8:6. Delgado will play Andrey Seroshtan (RUS) in the final of the junior's 9- ball. Seroshtan remained victorious over Daniel Schneider (SUI) with 7:6.

In the pupil's division, Andreas Madsen (DEN) ousted Can Salim-Giasar (GER) with 7:5. He will play Daniel Maciol (POL) in the final. Maciol whitewashed Raphael Wahl (GER) 7:0 in the semi-final.

In the girl's division, the final will be an all-Polish affair with Sylwia Zabeck playing Oliwia Czuprynska. Zabeck took down Veronika Ivanovskaia (GER) with 6:5 while Czuprynska took care of Kamila Khodjaeva (BEL) with the same result.

The finals of the 9-ball individuals will start right after the semi-final matches.
