Stop number ten of the J. Pechauer Custom Cues Southeast Open 9-Ball Tour was held this past weekend, September 16-17, in historical and stunning Savannah, Georgia. The $2000 added event was hosted at the South Side Billiard Club. The competition was fierce as 54 of the region and southeastern top players participated.
The weekend tournament started off on Friday evening with Tournament Director and former US Open winner, Tommy Kennedy hosting a seminar and player workshop open to the public and local players.
As with each tour event, day one concluded with the highest woman and junior finisher's being rewarded $50 each. This event's winners of those catagories were, Vivky Rybik and Adam Daughtry. Additionally 3% of the total entries went to a local charity and the Savannah Humane Society received $55.
The main event of had the top 12 players coming back on Sunday for the money matches. In the quarter finals on the one-loss side B.J. Ussery (9) def. Mike Newsome (2); for the hot seat match David Grossman (9) pummeled Paul Brown (0); in the semi finals: B.J.Ussery (9) decisively beat Paul Brown (3); and in the finals B.J.Ussery (11) toasted David Grossman (3). Ussery has now won handedly 2 events in a row.
The total prize fund was $ 3780.00.
