Do you ever have that feeling that you have been somewhere and done something before? That feeling must be getting old for Mika Immonen as he found himself in the same place and situation once again.
Immonen was at the International Challenge of Champions at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut and in the exact same situation as last year; getting ready to break the balls to play one game for $25,000.
Before this situation presented itself, Immonen’s eventual opponent in the finals, Francisco Bustamante went to a sudden death game in his match against Karl Boyes. Bustamante won the first set 5-0, lost the second set 5-2 and then won the sudden death game to earn his spot in the finals.
Immonen had a little less stress against his first opponent, as he defeated Ralf Souquet 5-3 and 5-4.
Immonen came out strong in the finals and took the first set 5-3, but Bustamante took the second set 5-2, and it was deja-vu time for Immonen.
Immonen had been in this position in last year’s event and won a messy game against Darren Appleton to hoist the trophy. This year was less of a tester for Immonen as he broke and ran the final rack for his second straight International Challenge of Champions win.
