It might have seemed like a decent idea in the beginning to run the Ladies Spirit Tour's March event in one day, but it was a different thing altogether when the event finished at 11:30 in the morning on Sunday.
The usual assortment of top Florida talent was joined by former WPBA star Mary Kenniston at Wallys Billiards in Lakeland, Florida on Saturday. The final four on the winners side came down to WPBA Touring Pros Debbie Schjodt and Tracie Hines along with Stephanie Mitchell and tour newcomer Kelly Jones.
Schjodt and Mitchell would win their matches to earn their places in the hot-seat match, which Schjodt would go on to win 7-3 early Sunday morning.
On the one loss side, Kelly Jones scored back to back wins over Jeannie Seaver and Leslie Davis-Blaikie but came up just short in a hill-hill loss to Stephanie Mitchell.
The win over Jones earned Mitchell another shot at Schjodt in the true double elimination final match which got underway after 8am. As if things had not lasted long enough already, the first match went hill-hill before Mitchell sank the case 9-ball to force another set before a winner could be determined.
The final set lasted until nearly 11:30 am before Schjodt scored the 7-5 win for first place.
