Argentina’s Soledad Ayala

The WCBS Championship – Kielce 2024 is not slowing down, and the competition has seen no shortage of sensational and exciting matches. After the second day of competition, the leader was Team Europe B.

Each win by individual players is counted as three points for the team, a draw – two points and a defeat is counted as one point. Friday’s series of games began with the Asia A – Europe A match. In the Carom 3-Cushion match, both teams won four points, because while in the men’s game, the Swede Torbjörn Blomdahl proved to be better than the Vietnamese Phuong Vinh Bao, in the women’s game, the Japanese Yuko Nishimoto defeated the Belgian Jaimie Buelens. It was similar in the remaining disciplines, there were no ties, which gave the result 16:16.

Next up was the Americas – Asia B match, which ended with a score of 11:21. The Americans lost both the Carom and Heyball matches. The Americans only won the Pool 10-ball match, thanks to the victory of the Argentine Soledad Ayala over the South Korean, Seo Seoa. The Snooker match between Victor Sarkis and Habib Sabah ended in a draw.

The afternoon session started at 3:00 PM with the Africa & Rest of the World – Europe B match. In this competition, the score was 12:20 in favor of the athletes from the Old Continent. The African team proved better only in two Carom 3-Cushion matches, the rest were won by the Europeans.

Europe A – Asia B (11:21) is another match that we had the opportunity to watch during the second WCBS Championship in Kielce. The visitors from Asia confirmed their excellent form in Heyball: Mohd Reza Hassan beat Dennis Laszkowski, and Narantuya Bayarsaikhan confidently defeated Nina Torvund. Both Snooker matches were also won by Asia. In Carom, both teams ended with a four-point advantage, and in Pool 10-ball, Sara Rocha drew with Seo Seoa.

In the last match on Friday, the Americas team lost to Asia A 15:17. Both teams scored the same number of points in Carom, Snooker and Heyball. Asia A showed its superiority only in the Pool 10-ball confrontation.

Of course, that wasn’t all that happened on Friday. Those who came to Kielce visited nearby attractions, namely the Paradise Cave and the picturesque Chęciny Castle. – Sport is of course emotions, competition, but it’s also an opportunity to gain from such a visit to another country. We invited our guests from three continents to get to know our area. They were impressed by these places – says Marcin Krzemiński, Chairman of Organizing Committee.
