Jordan Davis won five straight in a short, 17-entrant field to take first place in the Lucasi Hybrid Southwest 10-Ball Tour, held on Saturday, October 23. The $250-added event was hosted by Twin Strokes in Blue Springs, MO.
It took Davis two matches – victories over Lo Tau, 9-6, and Bob Ferguson, 9-5 - to get among the winners' side final four, where he shutout Jamie Williams. In the hot seat match, he faced Mike Banks, Jr., who'd just survived a double hill match versus Troy Kirkendoll. Davis took the first of two against Banks 9-4, and sat in the hot seat to await his return.
Williams moved over to face John Jones, who was beginning a four-match winning streak to the semifinals. It began with victories over Cory Smith 9-4 and Jimmy Brewer 9-3. Kirkendoll moved over to face Bob Fergason, who'd been sent west by Davis, and then chalked up wins over Jeff Moore 9-3, and Michael O'Reilly 9-7. Kirkendoll survived his first match on the one-loss side and moved into the event's first money round with a 9-7 win over Fergason. Jones dropped Williams into the tie for fifth place in a double hill match and joined Kirkendoll in the quarterfinals.
Jones essentially doubled his money when he moved into the semifinals, but his streak stopped right there. Banks, Jr. took that semifinal match 9-4 and turned back for a second try against Davis. Davis hung on to take their second set 9-8 and capture the first place prize.
