Mike Davis and Larry Nevel looked like the players to beat this weekend at the Jacoby Carolina Tour stop at Sharks-N-Shooters in Rocky Mount, NC.
As far as Mike Davis though, the rest of the field had different ideas. After a 7-0 win over Leonard Edge in the first round, Davis dropped a hill-hill decision to Stephen Bishop to fall to the left side of the board.
Dominating wins by Davis over DJ Outlaw and Steven Page were not enough as Davis then lost to Sam Monday 7-5 and was eliminated from the event.
The other early favorite, Larry Nevel, is faring better than Davis. Nevel started his tournament with a 7-0 win over Chris Vollmar, but looked like he was in trouble in his next match against Delton Howard. Howard led early, but Nevel came back to win the match 7-5 and followed that win up with a 7-2 win over Cary Dunn to remain undefeated after one day of play.
Joining Nevel on the right side of the board on Sunday are Jeff Abernathy, Stephen Bishop and Michael Fuller.
