Dot's Cue Club owned by John Haefka in Rocky Mount, North Carolina hosted the $1000 added Tar-Heel Open 9-Ball Tournament the weekend of August 10-12, 2007. Although the event had a smaller than anticipated field, it was packed full of very strong competitors including the likes of Mike Davis, Art Keck, and Wade Crane. The highlight of the event (and one of many matches that kept the crowd engrossed) was the winner's bracket hot seat match between professional player Mike Davis and Phillip Richardson – Richardson made it past Davis with a tight score of 9-7. With this loss, Davis was sent to the one-loss side to work his way back to the finals for a re-match with Phillip Richardson. Unfortunately for Richardson, Davis was ready to play by the time he made it to the final round and soared over him in this true double elimination final with scores of 9-5 and 9-5.
Just a reminder, Dot's Cue Club will have a $1000 added (based on field) U.S. Open qualifier October 11-13, 2007. The highest placed player that does not already have a spot in the U.S. Open will receive the qualifier spot.
