Legends Billiards and Grill Hosted a great $1500.00 added 9-ball event on July 10th & 11th in historic Brenham Texas, with 61 players shooting at the total prize fund of $8275.00.
Top picks were David Guttierez, Sylver Ochoa, Chen Lee, James Davis Sr., TJ Davis and Travis Stamper. As the play heated up it became clear that David Guttierez and Josh Harris were the players to beat as they both cruised to the semi-finals with no one getting past six games against either player.
On the one loss side it was Chen Lee laying them down after his first round loss to James Davis Sr.. Chen Lee went on to win eight matches in a row to finish 4th place. TJ Davis and Jason Pearce also play a great event with both players finishing in the 7th & 8th positions.
Robert Stewart beat Chad Henson 9-7,Paul Harris 9-8,Floyd Smith 9-1 and Bobby Pacheco 9-8 before running it to David Guttierez and Chen Lee for a 5th -6th place finish. David Parker also finishing in the 5th -6th position had wins over Gary Robinson 9-7,Hunter Blackwell 9-6, Rigo Pena 9-4 and Sylver Ochoa 9-8 before falling to Josh Harris 9-6 and James Davis Sr. 7-5. Josh Harris took the short road to a 3rd place finish with wins over Jody Williams 9-2, Ted Dean 9-2, James Davis Jr. 9-3,Ronnie Allen 9-5 and David Parker 9-6 only to find David Guttierez in the semi-final match.
James Davis Sr. finished 2nd place with an open round win over Lewis Jones 9-6 before falling to a Mark Mach a local player 9-8. James then settled in to the one loss side with wins over Justin Wade 7-3, Noel Morin 7-2, Rigo Pena 7-3, Bobby Pacheco 7-5, TJ Davis 7-3, Davis Parker 7-5, Chen Lee 7-3 and Josh Harris 7-1 to reach the finals. David Guttierez took the short road to the finals with wins over Chen Lee 9-4, Jason Warner 9-?, Jason Pearce 9-2, TJ Davis, Robert Stewart 9-4 and Josh Harris 9-7.
In the finals James Davis Sr. played solid to take the first set 9-5 but David Guttierez came to play and finished the second set 9-6 for the win.
