MANILA, PHILIPPINES---RENEMAR "Revo" David, the rising 18-yr. Old billiard phenom, ousted Marlon "Marvelous" Manalo in the hot seat as King-of-the-Table in Pool Showdown match of the week held Saturday night at the Rizal Memorial Billiards Center.
David, one of the country's representative in the World Junior Championship in Willingen, Germany this coming November 26-30, connected 5 wins enabling an 8-4 lead after 12th racks.
But the 2006 Sydney WJC quarter finalist broke dry in the 13th frame giving Manalo a chance to level the score 9-9 including four straight wins in the 15th to 18th frame in their race-to-11 9-ball winner's break format.
Even though the 31-yr old Manalo got back into the game, he still strugged with his breaks and lost his concentration due to several dry breaks.
Manalo missed ball 5 in the 19th rack prompted David to regain the lead and then an 8-9 combination in the 20th frame allowed him to wrap up the game 11-9.
The Mandaluyong native and 2nd BSCP National Pool Championship 1st runner-up Manalo won the lag but the point goes to David after he missed ball no.4 from a bad preparation.
David replaces Manalo as "Hari ng Mesa" received $1,800 for winning the ring game and the match of the week in the event supported by Sporteum Inc. (ACCEL) president Wilfredo Ortiz as official outfitter of the players.
Pool Showdown is a joint production of Raya Sports and ABC-5. It is broadcast every Tuesday and Saturday at 8:00-10:30 in the evening.
