J. Pechauer Cues continued its West Coast tour with stop number nine at Chet Itow's California Billiards in Mountain View. "We only had sixty-seven signed up with about a half-hour to go," said Barbara MacDonald, "but then a bunch came in during the last few minutes before the player's meeting and we ended up with ninety-eight players."
Dave Hemmah defeated Kenny Maeda, Bobby Hunter, Doug Coleman, Steve Farrell, Glenn Bond, and Tony Chohan before a loss to Ernesto Dominguez. On the loser's side he defeated Ian Costello to face Ernesto again in the championship match, winning 13-7 for the $2,500 top prize. Ernesto collected $1,400 for his efforts, and his victims on the way to the hotseat were Danny Medina, Billy Ray Sudan, Ed Raynoso, Max Eberle, Ian Costello, Arturo Rivera, and Dave Hemmah.
