Shannon Daulton came back from the one loss side and avenged his earlier loss to Gabe Owen to win the 16th Annual Music City Classic at JOB Billiards in Nashville, TN.
Daulton was undefeated until Sunday morning when he lost 11-9 to Owen. Daulton then went to the left side of the board and defeated Shawn Putnam 11-8 to set up the rematch with Owen. The first set in the finals was Daulton as he won 11-2. The next set was more evenly contested, but in the end it was Daulton 11-6 for the victory. It was Daulton's third Music City Classic title and second in three years. It was also Daulton's second title in two weeks, as he won the Derby City Classic 9-Ball division last week in Louisville, KY.
Daulton also won the midnight madness event early Sunday morning with an 11-10 victory over Johnny Archer in the finals.
The ladies division saw Helena Thornfeldt defeat Monica Webb 7-3 to capture the hot-seat and then 7-2 in the finals to capture the ladies division. It was the third straight year with these two players meeting in the finals and second win for Thornfeldt in those three years.
The scotch doubles division was won by tournament director Scott Smith and Toni Tucker who defeated last years winning team of Barry Emerson and Monica Webb 5-1 in the finals.
Daulton collected $3000 for the main event victory and $4000 for the midnight madness victory. Thornfeldt collected $700 for the ladies division win and the team of Smith and Tucker pocketed $1800 for the scotch doubles win.
