Darwin Bernadaz Wins L.A. 9-Ball Series Stop #7: The Break & Run Derby

Stop #7 (the Break & Run Derby) of the Mezz LA 9 Ball Series at Good Times Billiards started out with a tough field of SoCal pool players, with Darwin Bernadaz (678) taking down the 26 player field! Darwin had an amazing run, defeating Jose G Centeno (647) in the finals.

This unique format started with a group stage of 26 players. Four groups of 6-7 players in each group was cut down to top 16 players; the top 4 players in each group advanced to the 16 single elimination bracket:

Group D

  • Roberto Valenzuela (advanced)

Once in the single elimination bracket, Darwin dominated his opponents with many break & runs and table runs. In round 1, Darwin defeated Brandon Tatum (496), followed by wins over Keegan “K9” Badour (639) and Julius Argumedo (577) before taking on Jose G Centeno (647) in the final.

Jose had a great run as well, narrowly making it through the group stage and putting together some high runs of his own. In round 1, Jose defeated Joe Miedema (568), followed by wins against newcomer Roberto Valenzuela (564) and Jamal Oussi (619) to reach the final against Darwin.

Congrats as well to all those below that cashed and put up some big numbers on the Leaderboard!
