Young gun, Danny Smith, walked away with top honors at the second stop of the 2008 Arizona Desert Classic Tour. This tournament was held April 12th and 13th, at Tucson's Main Street Billiards. This event featured eight-ball on the nine foot tables. The tournament drew forty players.
After losing the hot seat match to Dennis Orender, Smith had to get by Tucson's Tom Neil for another shot at Dennis in the finals. Rounding out the final four was Arizona's own young gun, Mitch Ellerman. Ellerman was coming off his recent win at the U.S Bar Table Championships held in Reno, Nevada.
Dennis Orender's path to the hot seat included wins over Colin Winter, Ed Scott, George Teyechea, Rod Thompson, and Smith. Prior to losing the hot seat match to Orender, Danny Smith disposed of Ellerman, Bobby Emmons, Jack Rippel, Dave Capone, and Ben Hrabina on the winners side.
The next scheduled tour stop is set for June 21st & 22nd at Kolby's in Tempe. The format will be straight pool on, of course, the nine foot tables.
