With a stunning comeback from trailing 3-7, Canadian Danny Hewitt defeated Rafael Martinez 10-9 to make it the final matches on Sunday at the Ten-Ball Challenge at Trump Marina. Hewitt lost his first match of the event on Tuesday, but had won nine straight matches leading up to the match with Martinez late Saturday night.
Hewitt will have his hands full when he faces Francisco Bustamante on Sunday afternoon with the loser of that match finishing in fourth place. Bustamante lost to Warren Kiamco on Thursday but won seven straight matches so far on the one-loss side, including the difficult feat of beating Efren Reyes and Earl Strickland back to back on Saturday night. Strickland commented after the match. "Bustamante was playing perfect. No one could have beat him the way he was playing."
The winners side is down to two players with 'King' James Rempe facing Ronnie Alcano for the hot seat on Sunday afternoon. Rempe scored wins over Alex Pagulayan and Earl Strickland on Saturday, while Alcano defeated Efren Reyes and Rafael Martinez to get to his Sunday match with Rempe.
Brackets are updated and we have new pictures added to our online photo gallery. We will be updating brackets after each round on Sunday until a winner is crowned.
